Charge your smartphones with water droplets
You will soon be able to charge your smartphone with water droplets. According to some scientists, water droplets can be harnessed electricity which in turn can be used to power electronic devices.
Researchers at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) have discovered that humidity in air can be used to power your smartphone or laptop. According to them, water droplets jumping from a highly repelling surface can be used to power electronic devices.
It was discovered that water droplets spontaneously jumped away from super hydrophobic surfaces during condensation. Then it gained electric charge in the process. The research team has demonstrated that this process might be used to power electronic devices as this process generates small amounts of electricity.
In a press release MIT explained its discoveries: “Last year, MIT researchers discovered that when water droplets spontaneously jump away from super hydrophobic surfaces during condensation, they can gain electric charge in the process. Now, the same team has demonstrated that this process can generate small amounts of electricity that might be used to power electronic devices.”
According to the report, “super hydrophobic surface” with silica based nano-coatings can repel water. This technology can be used to charge your electronic devices. Apart from this it can also be used to produce clean water and generate power.
MIT also reported that this process can also be used to generate power simply by giving the second plate a hydrophilic surface. As the droplets jump, they carry charge from one plate to the other. If the two plates are connected through an external circuit, that charge difference can be harnessed by power.
Nenand Milijkovic, MITs post-doctoral fellow stated that what we need to do is to create a relationship between water present in the air (humidity) and a source of power and energy.
Milijkovic told MIT that water will condense out in the atmosphere, which is a natural phenomenon.
“The atmosphere is a huge source of power and all you need is a temperature difference between the air and the device.”
Google to launch $100 Android One during Diwali
According to reports, Google has planned to launch its first Android One smartphone in October this year in India.
Google announced about the Android One platform at the Google I/O conference. Under this platform, Google decided to bring out affordable smartphones into the market. These smartphones will cost around $100.
India and Indonesia have emerging markets for such affordable phones. Google expects to reach around 5 billion people through Android One devices in these markets.
The Android One handsets will be directly updated by Google (which is similar to the Google Play editions and Nexus smartphones).Hardware and software reference points will also be given in these smartphones. Also, the manufacturers will be able to install their own apps in these devices.
Micromax will be the first Android One device which will be priced $100 as mentioned by Google before. Sources say that it will be exclusively launched on Flipkart. This handset will have 4.5 inch display screen, dual SIM capability, integrated FM radio, and expandable memory. According to Pichai, at the Google I/O conference, Android One smartphones will come with Play Auto Installs. This app tells uses which apps are recommended for a smartphone.
Google is working with chip maker company MediaTek for its new Android One platform. The companies have been discussing about this in the last six months.
Google has also tied up with domestic handset manufacturers like Karbonn, Spice, Intex and Celkon to launch the smartphones.
Google has planned to invest Rs. 100 Crores on marketing and advertising on the android one program in India. It also plans to launch Android One devices around the festival of Diwali. Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior VP in charge of android, chrome and apps is expected to visit India for this program; further details would be available after his visit.

Nokia X Android Devices Will Run Windows Phone
There is bad news for Nokia fans who want Android on Nokia Smartphone because Microsoft is going to shift fron Android to Windows Platform.
Microsoft is going to shutdown Android for its Nokia X series smartphones announced by company's CEO Satya Nadella. This is the major changing step taking by Satya after being acquiring NOKIA this year.He also said X2 never had a chance, it is as good as dead.
Microsoft is going to shift NOKIA X from Android Platform to Windows Platform. Its expected that it might be follw the path of Lumia Devices.
Nokia has cooked Android back in February this year to create a new platform for its own smartphones. Nokia launches two Android smartphones this year under the Nokia X series. These two smartphones perform well in market and users give positive feedback. These phones lies between Series 40 based lo-cost Asha series and its Lumia Windows phones in pricing-wise.
Today’s announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise. Those following along saw the Nokia X line as a non-starter for Microsoft. Supporting the Android ecosystem simply didn’t align with Microsoft’s vision — even if the X line was designed for low-cost, developing regions. As Darrell stated in February, if you want Android on a Nokia phone, the X2 is your last chance.
Yesterday's announcement by Staya Nadella was quite surprising. Along with the discontinuation of Nokia X series Nadella also announces the 18,000 job cuts from Microsoft which include 12,000 jobs from Nokia. Microsoft also going to merge Nokia workforce to Microsoft. So if you want Android on Nokia, Nokia X2 is your last chance.
